Exportation Of Azo Dyes Will Affect Export Of European Garments.

At the end of April, the Jiangyin inspection and Quarantine Bureau found that the European Union banned the azo dyes for the sewing thread when it was sampling inspection for a company's upcoming accessories for export garments. The company promptly changed the sewing thread and avoided the return of unqualified garments.

Azo dye is a dyestuff that can decompose a variety of carcinogenic aromatic amine compounds and wear clothes dyed with this dye. It has great influence on human health.

EU banned azo dye directive 2002/61/EC and 2004/21/EC stipulate that prohibited dyes that can decompose 22 kinds of aromatic amines in textiles and leather, banned aromatic amines (including 4- azobenzene) can not exceed 30mg/kg.

In order to prevent unnecessary quality problems in the production of good export garments, the Jiangyin inspection and quarantine bureau advanced inspection and check. After testing, it was found that the content of 4- amino azobenzene in the sewing thread of the garment accessories was 151mg/kg, which greatly exceeded the EU directive. Jiangyin inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the time informed the enterprise to take effective measures to eliminate unnecessary losses due to quality hazards.

China's export clothing enterprises spread all over the world, and export clothing accounted for a considerable proportion of the European Union's destination.

At present, the majority of garment export enterprises are generally concerned about the banned azo dyes, but the problem of using azo dyes for accessories is not enough.

From the past few years, we have found that the garment accessories containing azo dyes can be used to export garments.

Due to the strict control of purchase, some accessories such as sewing thread and lace with forbidden azo dyes are inflow into the production line, resulting in the disqualification of the whole product.

Last year, a group of casual garments exported to Germany by a company was found to contain banned azo dyes because of embroidery patterns on sewing thread. Not only did they encounter returns, they were also claimed for more than 40 yuan.

It is understood that in recent years, textile products containing banned azo dyes have been returned, claimed or destroyed by European Union countries, many of which are due to the fact that garment accessories do not meet the requirements.

To this end, the inspection and Quarantine Department reminded foreign trade units and export garment manufacturers to ensure that the garments exported to the European Union should not only contain prohibited azo dyes, but also strengthen the control of prohibited azo dyes for auxiliary materials, and should not be overlooked because of the small proportion of accessories in garments. Besides, the inspection of garment accessories should be contacted with the inspection and quarantine department ahead of time, so as to deal with quality risks early in the limited production time.
