The Broolyn Museum in New York has held the Grand Design Retrospective Exhibition for the legendary design master Pierre Cardin (Pierre Cardin), "Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion (Pierre Cardin: future fashion"), to arouse people's memories of his works in the fashion history.

The retrospective exhibition opened on Saturday and will last until January 5, 2020. The exhibition is planned by the Broolyn museum's high fashion and material culture curator Matthew Yokobosky. It displays more than 170 works of Pierre Cardin, including advanced custom fashions, garments, accessories, photos, movies and so on. Matthew Yokobosky said he wanted to use this exhibition to answer the question "who is Pierre Cardin?"

The retrospective took visitors back to the original design career of Pierre Cardin. Since the late 60s of last century, Pierre Cardin has issued more than 850 brand licenses. These mass market products make the name of Pierre Cardin widely known, but also dilute his identity, so that his great contribution has rarely been mentioned. And his assistant was famous, such as French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier (let Paul Gore).

In this retrospective exhibition, Matthew Yokobosky did not focus on fashion in the mass market, but mainly displayed Pierre Cardin's unique advanced custom garments. Pierre Cardin, 97, opened the works to Matthew Yokobosky in person.

The focus of this exhibition is the bold, creative and avant garde works created by Pierre Cardin in 1960s, which was recognized by the classic shirts of Pierre Cardin and his early radical style. Matthew Yokobosky said: "60s is so innovative for him. He has many ideas. He did not stop. He has been creating.

The retrospective shows the Pierre Cardin's fascination with Futurism and space exploration. Some tights remind people of the uniform worn in the TV drama "Star Trek" with a spirit of equality between men and women. His jacket, called "Computer", was inspired by the integrated circuit board he saw on the IBM computer.

In addition, Pierre Cardin's theatrical and theatrical costumes also appeared, including the dress worn by Aas Peach Mia Farrow in 1968, the Playboy of A Dandy in Aspic, and the 1963 Jeanne Moreau in the lover of La Anji. Audiences can also see the French designer's fashion show video at Pierre Cardin square (Espace Pierre Cardin), the Great Wall of China (1979) and Moscow Red Square (1991). In order to explore the contribution of Pierre Cardin to other forms of art and design, the retrospective also exhibited some rare furniture and home decoration works.

Pierre Cardin was born in 1922 and is famous for its futuristic design. When he was 14 years old, he became a tailor apprentice. He knew how to make his own clothes. This is a rare skill in today's fashion industry. It is this skill that helps him transform his ideas into reality. Matthew Yokobosky said, "that's why he can make new designs, because he really knows the structure."

The most symbolic works of Pierre Cardin include a high waist dress called "Carwash". The vertical rope swings back and forth when the wearer walks, and a skirt called "kinetic back" reminds people of dynamic sculptor Calder's dynamic dress made of wool crepe. Matthew Yokobosky explains: "it's all about body dynamics."

Pierre Cardin also studied and used new materials. He creatively integrated architectural principles into textile technology, combined with vinyl and metal textile materials, and launched his own "Cardin" fabric in 1968.

In 1950, Pierre Cardin founded its own fashion company. From French actress Brigitte Bardot to former US first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, American actress and singer Raquel Welch, many celebrities have passed through his designs.

This exhibition not only pays tribute to the identity of Pierre Cardin designer, but also pays tribute to his identity as a creator. From the Maxim Maksim restaurant to make food molds, to China's pagoda, he can find inspiration from all kinds of things. Maksim restaurant is a famous restaurant Pierre Cardin has been operating in Paris for many years. He bought this restaurant in 1981. Matthew Yokobosky said, "he always thinks too far." Imagination is very rich. "

The Broolyn Museum plans to take the "Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion" retrospective exhibition to other cities in the United States and then take it to Asia. Pierre Cardin has been very popular in Asia. Finally, Matthew Yokobosky hopes that the exhibition can be concluded in France, because Pierre Cardin doesn't like to fly, so that he can see the exhibition with her own eyes.
