To Solve The Failure Of The Right-Click Menu Download Item After Upgrading IE
笔者的机子中同时安装了Windows XP、Windows Vista两个操作系统，平时主要在Windows XP系统中工作，不久前将IE更新至7.0版本，但在使用迅雷时，意外发现右键菜单中“使用迅雷下载”失效。
Search Microsoft official Technology Forum found that it is related to the BrowseNewProcess string value in the registry. It is said that the value determines whether the two processes of explorer.exe.exe and iexplore.exeI are separated or merged, and can be set as "yes" or "no".
In the Windows XP system, open the registry editor and locate it in turn to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ BrowseNewProcess \". It is found that the "BrowseNewProcess" string value in the right pane is set to "no" instead of the default "BrowseNewProcess". In this case, the two processes of explorer.exe.exe and iexplore.exe will be merged together. When browsing the web page, the iexplorer.exe process may be covered by the explorer.exe process in some cases. The embarrassment is that the download tools such as Thunderbolt can only recognize the iexplorer.exe of IE at the moment, which is the reason why the right-click menu fails. What is more serious is that if too many web pages are opened, the crash of web pages will easily lead to Explorer.exe collapse.
We can enter Windows Vista to check and open the registry editor to locate the same location. Under normal circumstances, the "BrowseNewProcess" string value in the right pane should be set to yes by default. This means that IE uses a separate process to open the "task manager to process" dialog box, and we can also find explorer.exe, iexplore.exe two separate processes.
Knowing the reason, it's much easier to solve. Restart the system to enter Windows XP, open the registry editor, change the string value of "BrowseNewProcess" to "yes", refresh, open IE, express train, thunderbolt, and run for a long time without any malfunction. Open the "process" tab of the task manager. We can also find two independent processes of explorer.exe and iexplore.exe here. If you have encountered the same problem, you may as well try it according to the method described in this article.
