International Observation: India'S Consumption Is Sharply Reduced, And Cotton Supply Tends To Be Relaxed

The USDA report did not adjust India's cotton output in 2022/23 this month, maintaining the previous expectation of increasing production, an increase of 670000 tons over the previous year; However, this report significantly reduced India's cotton consumption by 220000 tons, which ultimately increased India's cotton ending inventory by 240000 tons compared with last month, and the inventory consumption ratio increased by 6.65%. The Cotton Institute of India (CAI) assessed the cotton balance sheet of Indian cotton in 2022/23. Compared with the previous year, the inventory at the beginning of the period decreased by 680000 tons, the output increased by 560000 tons, the import decreased by 30000 tons, the domestic demand decreased by 310000 tons, the export decreased by 220000 tons, and the inventory at the end of the period increased by 370000 tons. On the whole, both USDA and CAI data show that the supply and demand of Indian cotton is relatively loose this year.
