On June 2, local time, the U.S. government announced that it would impose 25% retaliatory duties on goods with a total value of about $2.1 billion from six countries in response to the digital services tax imposed by these countries on companies such as Facebook, Google and Amazon. Countries that will be subject to high tariffs include Australia, the United Kingdom, India, Italy, Spain and Turkey

Subsequently, the U.S. government immediately said that the implementation of the tariff policy would be delayed for 180 days.

U.S. trade representative Dai Qi said the move would retain the option of imposing tariffs for the United States and allow more time for negotiations with countries.

In June last year, the trump government launched an investigation into the above six countries collecting digital service tax from the global Internet giants, and gave a one-year time limit for the implementation of retaliatory tariffs.
