Italy luxury brand Gucci (Gucci) of Kai Yun group said on Thursday that brand operation and its supply chain have fully realized "carbon neutralization".

Gucci announced that in order to reduce the environmental impact and promote positive changes in the fashion luxury industry, the brand donated $8 million 400 thousand to the United Nations to support four REDD+ projects (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation), in order to make up for the environmental impact of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted during the annual operation and the whole supply chain process, and to support global forest protection. As a sustainable pioneer in the luxury and fashion industry, Gucci promises that its supply chain has achieved carbon neutralization.

Carbon neutral: calculate the total amount of carbon dioxide emissions, and then offset these emissions by planting trees in order to achieve environmental goals. )

For a long time, Gucci has implemented the strategy of sustainable development in operational activities. "After realizing the urgency of global climate issues," the company has taken active measures in the near future. Gucci believes that consumers want their producers to do what they can on some key social responsibility issues, which will enable consumers to feel their money and value.

In addition to making contributions to carbon emissions through this donation, Gucci has also taken a series of measures, including:

Promoting the use of environmentally friendly alternative materials

Sourcing from sustainable sources

Improve production efficiency, avoid and reduce environmental impact of supply chain.

It is reported that Gucci is currently increasing the proportion of energy that can be recycled in operations, stores, offices and warehouses. The target is to increase from 70% to 100% next year. This change has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 45 thousand and 800 tons in 2018.

Gucci is also committed to reducing the waste of materials and water resources in operation, using more recycling concepts, reducing environmental impact through technical means, and using more organic fibers or sustainable materials such as Econyl yarns.

Gucci said that the company has explored a new route to achieve carbon neutralization, emphasizing that enterprises must be responsible for all carbon emissions generated by the supply chain. In addition, the transparency of supply chain is also very important. The company will continue to measure and monitor its overall environmental impact through its annual environmental profit and loss account.

Marco Bizzarri, President and chief executive of Gucci, said that a new era of corporate responsibility is coming. We need to make every effort to reduce environmental impact, including transparency of supply chain and responsibility for carbon emissions of the entire supply chain.
