According to the recent news of India media (Zee News), the Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI) of India has applied for a patent for its leather making technology, which has made significant breakthroughs in water saving.

The new anhydrous chrome tanning technology can not only save time, but also produce economic benefits and reduce pollution.

He explained that with the new technology, tanning agent can be added directly to the defired bare skin without tanning water or other media.

The new tanning process reduces many production links and is therefore very economical.

Chakrabarti said that the new technology could also reduce about 50% of chrome tanning agents.
