Clothing Becomes A New Hot Spot Of Consumption For Chongqing Citizens

With rapid economic growth and price boosting, the consumption of Chongqing residents has been increasing rapidly since 2008 (this year). Chongqing Statistics Bureau statistics show that this year, affected by the rapid development of real estate, the consumption of goods related to housing consumption in Chongqing is very hot.

From January to October, retail sales of construction and decoration materials increased by 44.5% compared with the same period last year; household appliances and audio-visual equipment increased by 29.2% over the same period last year; wood products and furniture categories increased by 3.2 times than that of the same period last year; clothing, shoes, hats, needles and textiles grew faster than before; in the previous October, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, needles and textiles in Chongqing above 9 billion 98 million yuan, 35.3% higher than that in the same period last year; the top grade consumption also maintained a relatively high growth; in October, Chongqing's gold, silver and jewelry retail sales increased 34.5% over the same period last year; auto retail sales increased by 32.4% over the same period last year; cosmetics retail sales increased 30% over the same period last year.

Besides, this year, the consumption of foodstuffs in Chongqing has seen a rigid growth.

According to statistics, from January to October, retail sales of food, beverages, tobacco and alcohol in wholesale and retail enterprises above Designated Size in Chongqing amounted to 9 billion 260 million yuan, an increase of 45.3% over the same period last year.

Retail sales of electronic publications and audio-visual products and communications equipment grew slowly.
