Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reported in 21 daily on November that the latest survey by the Greenpeace organization of the international environmental protection organization shows that many international famous brands of clothing contain chemicals that are harmful to the endocrine and reproductive systems of the human body. About 1/4 of them are produced in China, but experts and scholars call for a rational view of the report.

The brands that are accused of selling these "toxic clothing" include consumers familiar with it.

The group purchased 141 garment samples from 20 brands from 29 countries around the world for testing.

63% of them were found to contain nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE), and all 31 samples printed with plastic sol contained o-phthalate two formate (Phthalates).

According to product labels, the tested garments were produced in 18 countries.

Of these, 34 originate in China, and 70% of them are found to contain harmful substances.

Li Yifang, director of the green peace pollution control project, said that with the rise of fashion brands, Zhou Qizheng of clothing production and sales has been continuously compressed, and the impact of toxic substances on the ecology is increasing.

"As a major producer of these brands, China can not afford such an environmental health cost," he said.

According to the report, China is the largest in the world.

Exporting countries, such as Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, are all covered by textile and light industries.

With the development of industrialization and urbanization in the past 30 years, the problem of environmental pollution in China has become grim.

For this report, experts and scholars call for a rational view.

Sun Huaibin, director of the China Textile Industry Federation News Center, said that the global standards for the use of industrial chemicals are improving. The Chinese government, industry organizations and enterprises are also working hard to promote the adoption of non-toxic alternatives. "But after all, it takes a process."

The Chinese industry has begun to study nontoxic alternatives, but there is still a lack of material that can be completely replaced economically and functionally.

China welcomes the experience of developed countries in sharing this experience.

Meanwhile, Hu Jianying, Professor of the school of urban and Environmental Sciences of Peking University, also appealed to the public to take a rational view of the report.

She pointed out that although studies have shown that NPE and phthalate two can increase the risk of some diseases, there are many factors involved, including the concentration of harmful substances, the frequency of contact, and so on.

"We have just conducted a crowd survey recently. The concentration of phthalate two in urine is almost the same as that in other countries.

Of course, we can not relax the regulation of harmful substances, but we should not exaggerate the impact, "she said.
