Australian Wool Market

This week, knowledge in the AWEX region closed down. In the auction of Sydney, Melbourne and Frey Mantell, the average price of wool fell by 3%, and the Australian dollar increased by 0.1% compared with the dollar.

This is the last second sale before Christmas break.

This week's decline is not surprising, because this week's provision of 50304 bales of wool is the largest week since mid year, and on Tuesday, in Melbourne, Tarim's fine wool has been supplied considerably.

The Eastern market index fell by 17 cents in dollar terms on Tuesday, down 8 cents on Wednesday and Thursday.


At present, the Eastern market index reached 1168 Australian cents, 161 Australian cents higher than the same week last year, with an average season of 1235 Australian cents, an average of 309 Australian cents higher than the 23 weekend of last year.


The biggest drop occurred in the western market index, which was again affected by different auction days in the East and West.

The Eastern market index dropped 41 Australian cents in Frey Mantell's auction the week before.


This week, the wool is available for auction.

Up to 50304 packages (last week's offer was 44372 packages), 15.4% did not deal, of which 10.4% did not deal in Sydney, 15.5% did not deal in Melbourne, 21.8% did not deal in Frey Mantell.

The non turnover rates of Merino hair and wool were 16.8% and 13.6% respectively.

42559 packets of wool were sold this week.


So far this year, the state has provided 2238 bales of wool, which is 2.5% lower than that of the same weekend last year.


After 5.4% growth last week, this week's exchange rate is more stable, but continues to fluctuate on the basis of Japan.


All Merino types and wool in micron range are affected, the lowest impact on 20-21 micron wool and 24 micron wool.

Medium coarse wool continues to be the least affected wool this season.


The wool on the Tuesday and Wednesday followed the wool cut trend, but it began to stabilize on Thursday.

The prices of crossbred wool also declined, and their AWEX average micrometer price index showed a similar percentage change with that of Merino type wool.


The price of broken wool also declined, but some types appeared.

The average AWEX Merino combed price index dropped by 2.4%.


During the auction in South Africa, the Cape wool index dropped by 3.4%. South African rand appreciated 4.4% against the US dollar, appreciated 3.6% against the euro and reached 14137 packets of wool.
