NewBalance, a global sports footwear and sportswear company, has announced a strategic development plan to open up the mainland market in Shanghai recently. By 2012, NewBalance will develop into China's largest running brand, and China will also become the second largest brand in the world.

RobDeMartini, NewBalance's new chief executive, said: "China has always been a very critical market for NewBalance.

NewBalance already has a solid foundation in China. In the next 5 years, China will play an important role in NewBalance's doubling of global business.

RobDeMartini revealed that before 2010, NewBalance will strive to achieve four goals.

They are: doubling global sales, developing the Chinese market into the second largest market in the world, becoming the first major running brand in China, and successfully opening up 1000 concept stores in China.
