Economics

The Ministry of industry announced that retail sales decreased by 2.6% in August, the first decline in March, exceeding economists' expectations and the biggest decline in May, further indicating that Japan's economic recovery is losing momentum.

Data showed that retail sales in Japan fell by 2.6% in August, the largest decline since May, while retail sales in May fell by 1.3%.

Economists surveyed were expected to fall by 0.8%.

Fast Retailing Co., the largest clothing chain in Asia, said its sales in August were 9.4% lower than the same period last year, due to lower temperatures.

Summer

Sales of clothing are not smooth.

As of June, the Japanese economy contracted for the third consecutive quarter.

According to the government's survey of economists, it is estimated that Japan's economy will grow at an annual rate of 4.6% in the third quarter.
