US Consumer Safety Improves Children'S Clothing Export Risks

Recently, the Nanjing inspection and Quarantine Bureau was informed that, in accordance with the provisions of the consumer product safety improvement act of the United States,

U.S.A

This year, the import of children's products is further limited.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act stipulates that from February 10, 2009, it is forbidden to sell products with a lead content of more than six hundred parts per million (600ppm) to children under 12 years of age or below.

The maximum lead content limit of three hundred (300ppm) for children's products will come into effect in August 14, 2009 and will be reduced to one hundred parts per million (100ppm) in August 14, 2011 unless the Consumer Product Safety Commission considers that this standard is not feasible for a product or a product category.

For children under 12 years of age or below.

Bound by this restriction.

Because lead is a kind of heavy metal which seriously endangers human health, especially for children at the stage of growth and development, the lead content in children's clothing is further restricted.

In response to lead content, children are more sensitive than adults, and the absorption of lead is several times higher than that of adults.

Lead exposure can cause damage to the brain and nervous system of children and unborn babies, and cause behavioral, learning and hearing problems, affecting growth and development, hearing systems, and other health problems such as headaches, anemia, and so on.

The Quarantine Bureau has learned that at present, China's inspection and quarantine institutions do not detect lead content in children's clothing exports, which has increased the risk of exceeding the standard of lead in children's clothing exports.

In recent years, there has been a recall of domestic clothing, especially this year, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just announced the recall of 90 thousand pieces of clothing made from Vietnam. The reason is that the lead content in clothing as accessories for decoration is over standard, so we should attach importance to our children's clothing industry.
