The representative of the Export Association said that such chemicals were one of the main raw materials for the textile production process, and the new prohibition would hamper the short-term development of the industry.

However, if the government provides enough adjustment period to the manufacturer before implementing the new regulations, the industry should be able to find suitable substitutes.

Bangladesh import and export management officer AKM Mahmudul Hasan Khan pointed out that many export markets in the country are based on these 4 chemicals as raw materials.

The new ban will strike a serious blow to the industrialization process in Bangladesh.
