Why should leaders be concerned about leadership? In fact, in China and the United States, some leaders may not care about leadership, sometimes for their own benefit, not for good leadership.


Let me give you two examples. The first is about an American restaurant. In the United States, the second Sunday of May is mother's day. People will go out for a big meal and have a good time. Do you have such an experience? When you enter a room or a company, you immediately feel something wrong. This is what happens to us. About two years ago, we went to a restaurant. When we went in, no one was greeting, the order was not smooth, the food was served for a long time, it was not good to eat and the bill was very slow. We also saw that the consumers around them had gone through the same bad situation. So I wanted to talk to the manager and found that the leadership didn't care about leadership at all, so no one was concerned about the service. Although some European companies do not give specific positions to some leaders, they understand them. responsibility Pay attention to leadership.


The second example is the opposite case. It is about Double Tree Hotel (double Tree Hotel), which is very impressive every time. Almost when we first arrived there, we found that they were very concerned about leadership. They will say that we hope to become the top ten hotels in two years. Leaders are very concerned about training, pay attention to the employees themselves, and employees at every level are authorized to improve their services.


We need to focus on leadership because we are appointed as leaders, and that is our responsibility. Years of research have shown that there are two points to be concerned about "situational leadership": first, the relationship between leaders and leaders is important. Second, identify the specific situations you want to deal with.


I once went to Tsinghua to give lectures to some real estate developers in China. I first told them about the industry in the United States. I don't want to think about the relationship between leaders and leaders, especially the situation. Situational leadership includes relational behavior, leader's behavior, duty behavior, and followers' state. Leaders have a lot of information to communicate with their subordinates, what to do, who to do, when to do and how to do. This is not to say that this is all the rules, but to focus on the work itself. There are also four ways of Leadership: informed, instructor, participatory, and authorized.


The way of telling is not in a conversational way, "can you finish the job?" instead, it is directly said, "please finish the work." The question is, how to decide which leadership style to use is most appropriate? We need to find a way to make quick judgement, rather than to turn over the books before work. We need to understand what to do and choose the right leadership style.


In short, employees' independence increases in these four styles. "Inform" is applied to new people who are not confident and unable to do things. They need the boss to tell me how to do it. When employees begin to have some experience, they can use "coaching style", which is suitable for those who are confident and unable to do so. "Authorized" is used for subordinates with ability and confidence. They are very clear about their responsibilities and can do well in their work.


In this way, if some people are still unable to work independently and need guidance and help, what will the consequences be if leaders are left alone? There will be problems. A girl recently told me angrily that she could not understand her leadership at all. She has just joined the work, and needs instruction (inform) leadership. The problem is that her boss uses more authorisation. She always can't do well, even can't talk to each other, which makes her feel very frustrated.


Therefore, the problem is that leaders need to choose the priorities of different leadership styles according to different situations. Leadership is a gradual process of change. The application of situational leadership requires an effort to correctly assess the status of the leader. Even if your employees are doing well, you need to be sensitive to your needs and choose leadership styles to get better employees.
