The formaldehyde content of samples is 95mg/kg, which exceeds the mandatory standard. The formaldehyde content of class B products is less than 75mg/kg. Some experts advise consumers to read labels clearly when choosing clothes.

The basic technical specification for national textile products stipulates that all textile and apparel products sold on the domestic market must be marked with textile safety information on the label, otherwise they will be punished.

The ratio of enterprises to apply for testing in accordance with national mandatory standards is very low.

In addition, the relevant standards of textile and apparel products are updated rapidly, and the contents are complex. Many enterprises lack relevant professionals, so it is difficult to accurately grasp the technical requirements of standards.


It is also understood that the State Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine and the State Administration of Standardization (GB18401-2010) issued the "basic technical specifications for national textile products" in early 2011, and are scheduled for implementation in August 1st this year.


Liu Junhai, vice chairman of the China Association for consumer protection and director of the Institute of commercial law, Renmin University, pointed out in an interview with reporters that enterprises are the main body of the market and the first responsible person for consumer rights protection. The clothing manufacturers should operate in good faith and abide by the law. They should strengthen self-discipline, undertake the ten obligations and relevant social responsibilities of the operators stipulated in the "consumer law", while protecting the interests of consumers while creating profits.

Governments at all levels and relevant departments are the main body of market supervision. They should conscientiously perform the duties of market supervision, further intensify the supervision of the market, improve the laws, regulations and rules and regulations concerning consumer protection, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

Consumers should consume rationally and scientifically, and actively use legal means to protect their rights.

People's courts at all levels should provide timely and fair judicial relief to consumers in line with the principle of "quick filing", "quick trial", "quick implementation" and "quick decision".
