Export Shoe Enterprises Need To Pay Great Attention To EU Two Methyl Fumarate Limit

The official communique has published resolution 2010/153/EU on bioinsecticides (commonly referred to as DMF), extending the validity period of the 2009/251/EC (methyl methacrylate) ban (2009/251/EC) for one year until March 15, 2011.

At present, the validity of the ban is about to expire.

For this reason, the inspection and quarantine department reminds footwear companies that they must pay close attention to the content of two methyl fumarate.

In 2009, the European Union issued a ban on the excessive content of two methyl fumarate. All the two methyl esters of fumaric acid exceeding 0.1 micrograms per kilogram (calculated by each component) will not be sold in the European Union.

So far, the export footwear products of the mainland of China have been notified repeatedly due to the excessive content of this substance, which has brought great losses to domestic shoe enterprises.

According to the EU RAPEX notification system, 140 footwear products were announced in 2009 and 2010, of which 110 were due to the excessive content of two methyl esters of fumaric acid, accounting for 78.6%. Among them, Spain, Hungary and Germany were informed of 50 times, 20 times and 18 times of DMF exceeding the standard respectively, ranking the top three.

For this reason, the inspection and Quarantine Department reminded again.

One is to strengthen monitoring and control, and when the supply contract is signed with raw material suppliers, the content of methyl fumarate should be included in the scope of contract monitoring, and the supplier should obtain the relevant certificate that does not contain methyl esters of fumaric acid. Two, in the daily production process, the desiccant and mould inhibitor should be sent to the sample to ensure that the products comply with the EU directive. Two, it is to find more environmentally friendly and healthy alternatives, or adopt more advanced physical mildew prevention measures, such as using environmental mildew proof paper, mould proof bags to combat the hazards of microorganisms, and so on, so as to ensure the export products are rich, and so on. The two is to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the EU directive.
