Bangladesh Parliament Improves Retirement Age For Public Sector Workers

Congress passed a law on Monday to postpone the retirement age of workers from many different companies in different parts of the country for three years.

The retirement age of workers from different departments of the Ministry of industry, the Ministry of environment and forestry and the jute Department of textile industry will be postponed from 57 to 60.

Bangladesh labor and Employment Minister Musharraf, Hossain, submitted the labor law (Amendment) to Parliament in 2010, proposing to postpone retirement age.

Later, Congress passed the bill by oral vote.

At the beginning of November last year, the cabinet of Bangladesh approved an increase of 52% in the average salary of 1 million 550 thousand government officials and employees in the country. These officials and employees serve 54 ministries, companies and bureaus of the country.
