Tencate Promotes Intelligent Geosynthetics In North America

　　 Since 2010, geosynthetics Holland TenCate has focused its efforts on launching TenCate GeoDetect products in the North American market.

The monitoring system is equipped with optical geotextiles and has been used in Europe for several years. The introduction of the product in North America has made its further application in geotechnical engineering.

TenCate is the first company in the world to produce intelligent geotextile system. TenCate GeoDetect combines geotextiles with optical glass fibers, as well as special equipment and software. The product can provide early warning of soil structure deformation to remind people to take necessary measures to avoid engineering quality problems. The system can be used for the construction of embankment structure, highway and railway nurse wall, tunnel and underground building structure and pipeline.

Wilson Harvey, director of the business development department of TenCate geosynthetics North America company, said that combining geotextiles' own characteristics and optical fiber technology, TenCate GeoDetect geosynthetics can provide customers with the most accurate and custom-made reliable monitoring system solutions.

In Europe, the company has implemented pilot projects, such as the French National Rail Corporation (French rail track subgrade construction) high-speed line project. The project was also applied in the early warning system of Holland to test dams and seawalls.
