Dalian Polytechnic University

Founded in 1958, Dalian Polytechnic University, formerly known as the Shenyang Light Industry Institute, moved to Dalian in 1970 and was renamed Dalian Light Industry Institute.

The school originally belonged to the Ministry of light industry, and was pformed into a central and local management system in 1998.

Approved by the Ministry of education in 2007, it was renamed Dalian Polytechnic University.

The school is one of the 4 light industry colleges established in China. It is also the only university in Northeast China, which is characterized by light textile.

After 50 years of construction, the scale of the school has gradually expanded, the strength of running schools has been gradually enhanced, and the coordinated development of scale, structure, quality and efficiency has been realized. It has become an important base for training advanced engineering and technical talents, art design talents and managerial personnel in the modern consumption industry.

The school has 3 campuses, covering an area of 1036 mu, with a total construction area of 480 thousand square meters.

There are 848 full-time teachers, of whom 126 are professors and 311 are associate professors.

At present, there are 18472 full-time students, including 947 graduate students and 93 overseas students.

It has 15 colleges and 2 teaching departments, 38 undergraduate majors and 19 vocational colleges.

There are 28 master's degree programs, 6 engineering master's degrees, and the authorized disciplines of master's degree in light industry technology and engineering, textile science and engineering are the only subjects in the northeast area with a master's degree.

There are 2 universities in Liaoning, 6 in Liaoning, 2 in the experimental teaching demonstration center in Liaoning Province, and the training base for the light industry and the base for the training of talents in Arts and design.

The clothing College Affiliated to the school is rated the ten largest clothing school in China.

In recent years, it has undertaken 4 national teaching reform projects, won 20 outstanding teaching achievement awards at the provincial level, 1 national excellent teaching materials, 3 provincial quality teaching materials, and 22 provincial top quality courses.

The school achieved outstanding results in the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of education in 2005. It is the first school to win outstanding achievements in the 8 universities of the Ministry of light industry. It is also the first batch of outstanding schools in Liaoning provincial universities.

In recent years, student science and technology cultural activities have received more than 600 provincial and ministerial level awards.

In the national finals of the 2007 BBC online English competition, the school management students won the championship.

In the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' extracurricular academic science and technology competition and other competitions, the school has won many awards.

In the selection of ceremonial guides at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games, 24 students were selected.

The employment rate of school graduates has remained above 92%, and the employment rate of graduate students is above 98%.

In 2006, it was identified as the first batch of "Liaoning province undergraduate entrepreneurship education demonstration school".

In 2007, it was jointly named by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the National Youth Federation and the International Labour Organization as the second batch of College Students' KAB (Know About Business) entrepreneurship education base, and was awarded the title of entrepreneurship education demonstration university awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Guanghua Science and technology foundation of China.

In the first NOKIA youth business plan competition, the school won first gold medals.

There are 5 provincial key disciplines including fermentation engineering, textile engineering, pulp and paper engineering, food science and design art. The fermentation engineering laboratory is the Key Laboratory of Liaoning Province, and 4 laboratories, such as fermentation engineering, pulp and paper engineering, textile engineering, new materials and material modification, are key laboratories in Liaoning universities.

Liaoning provincial aquatic products deep processing engineering technology research center, Liaoning food engineering technology research center, Liaoning textile inspection center, textile industry product research and development center and other 4 provincial centers.

In 2006, clothing design and engineering, art and design two professions were rated A+ at the same time, and entered the top 5% leading ranks of the same profession in China.

In 2007 and 2008, clothing design and engineering specialty and food science and engineering specialty were approved as the national characteristic specialty construction points.

In 2004, the Ministry of education ranked sixth in light industry technology and engineering disciplines in the evaluation of 80 first level disciplines in universities nationwide.

In the first class assessment conducted in 2008, the school's food science and engineering discipline ranked eleventh, representing 13 Chinese universities with the first level of doctoral degree, representing the development level of Food Science in China.

The Journal of Dalian Polytechnic University is listed as the core Chinese Periodical in the latest 2008 edition of the general list of core journals of Chinese.

The school has strong scientific research ability.

In recent years, it has undertaken 78 projects including the national "973" project, the national "863" project, and the National Natural Science Foundation project. 4203 papers have been published, among which 368 are included in the three major retrieval systems of SCI, EI and ISTP, and 283 international and national patents have been authorized. 51 scientific research achievements have been awarded above the provincial level. Among them, the school as the first completed unit has won the two prize of national technological invention, 2 items: "the production of RH2 rare ginsenoside by enzyme pformation" project was awarded the National Technology Invention Prize in 2003. The "sea cucumber autolysis enzyme technology and its application" was awarded the 2005 National Technological Invention Prize.

Our school is one of the few universities that have won the national technological invention award two times.

The school has vigorously implemented the construction of talent projects and innovative teams, and has formed a reasonable structure, good quality and dynamic teaching staff.

Among them, Professor Jin Feng Xie, a light industry subject, became an effective candidate for the 2005 and 2007 supplementary academicians; Professor Zhu Beiwei, a professor of food science, won the prize of science and technology innovation of Ho Liang Ho Li foundation in 2008; the two professors were rated as 20 Liaoning province climbing academics who are expected to become academicians; 3 professors won the award of teaching masters in Liaoning Province, 3 professors were professional leaders of provincial higher education institutions in Liaoning Province, and 48 were selected in Liaoning Province, "10 million talents project" or elected outstanding young backbone teachers.

4 teams were identified as provincial-level innovation teams, and 3 teams were selected as provincial teaching teams.

It has established cooperative relations with universities in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Japan and Korea.

Employing dozens of internationally renowned experts and scholars such as Dr. Nobel, the winner of the Kurt Woothrich prize in chemistry, and Grumbach, chairman of the French Fashion Association, as honorary professors or visiting professors.

Since 2005, the largest project in the history of Sino French higher education exchange has been introduced, and he has received 135 masters of computer science from the University of France in Liaoning, and has received high attention and praise from the Ministry of education and the leadership of the province.

In 2007, the Edinburgh international aviation service institute was established in collaboration with the New Zealand Institute of Edinburgh, and a diploma program in higher education was successfully launched.
